Effective DRE Workshop

Dear Parish and School Catechetical Leaders:

The Effective DRE from NCCL (National Conference of Catechetical Leadership),  is a five-part certification process for catechetical leaders and was developed to help parish/school catechetical leaders attain the basic competencies required to be effective leaders in this ministry.  The parts are designed for small group facilitation to discuss practical advice, proven methods and specific procedures for carrying out the many essential tasks related to directing a parish/school faith formation program.  Theological and practical issues will be discussed.

Because we already offer a variety of opportunities for theological development, each part of The Effective DRE series will focus on the skills element of your ministry. The focus of each different part of the program is listed below.

You may bring the fee on the 1st day of the workshop unless other arrangements are made prior to the beginning of the workshop.

 

Part I  covers:

1) Understanding Catechesis; 2) Communicating Effectively; 3) Forming Ministerial Relationships; 4) Building Community.      


Part II   covers:

1) Developing Parish/School Programs; 2) Recruiting & Training Catechists; 3) Keeping Records & Budgets; 4) Maintaining Professional Balance.

Part III   covers Canon Law.

Part IV   covers  the Parish/School Catechetical Leader as:

1)  The spiritual leader of the catechetical community and leader and model of prayer; 2)  The model and leader of liturgical celebrations, especially during Advent, Lent, and the Easter season.


Part V   covers:  
1) Spirituality for the Catechetical Leader in the form of a retreat.

More information concerning the Summer Catechetical Leaders Retreat will be forthcoming.

These workshop sessions are designed to offer an excellent introduction for those who are new to professional parish/school catechetical leadership.  For those with more experience, the sessions offer ongoing professional development and an opportunity to share with colleagues who are new in leadership positions.
