The Cathedral Concert Choir and Orchestra, under the direction of Sarah Jane McMahon Briscoe, invite the public to two powerful performances of Gioachino Rossini’s Stabat Mater, a deeply moving musical meditation on the Virgin Mary's grief during the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
This beautiful Spring Concert will take place on consecutive days at two sacred and historic venues. The first performance will be held on Saturday, April 12, at 2:00 PM, at St. Louis Cathedral, on Jackson Square in New Orleans, followed by a second performance on Palm Sunday, April 13, at 3:00 PM, at Mater Dolorosa Church, 1230 South Carrollton Avenue, New Orleans. Admission is free and open to the public.
Hosted by the Catholic Cultural Center of New Orleans and Mater Dolorosa Church, the concerts promise an unforgettable musical experience featuring the St. Louis Cathedral Concert Choir and Orchestra. The performances will be conducted by Michael Borowitz and feature renowned soloists Soprano Sarah Jane McMahon Briscoe, Mezzo-Soprano Olivia Gray, Tenor Kameron Lopreore, and Bass Dennis Jesse. The orchestra is coordinated by Jesse Reeks.
