"It is necessary to raise awareness and form the lay faithful, in whatever state, especially those engaged in the field of politics, so that they may think in accord with the Gospel and the social doctrine of the church and act consistently by dialoguing and collaborating with those who, in sincerity and intellectual honesty, share — if not the faith — at least a similar vision of mankind and society and its ethical consequences." — Speech to a delegation from the Dignitatis Humanae Institute Dec. 7, 2013
On the heels of a very busy week at the nation’s capital, several hundred teenagers from across the Archdiocese will join with hundreds of thousands people of all ages and diverse backgrounds for the 2017 March for Life in Washington, D.C. The local youth and their chaperones will depart Tuesday evening for a five-day trip in support of the dignity and respect for life at all ages. Upon arriving in D.C., the #NOLACatholic teens traveling with the support of the Archdiocese of New Orleans CYO/Youth and Young Adult Ministry Office will meet with several hundred other local participants sponsored by Catholic schools and other pro-life ministries.
What is the March for Life?
The March for Life began in Washington, D.C., as a small demonstration and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world. The peaceful demonstration that has followed on the somber anniversary of Roe v. Wade every year since 1973 is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, legalized abortion on demand. Learn more at http://marchforlife.org/.
Can't make it to the March?
Pray for those making the pilgrimage and the safety of all who are marching this week and pray especially for all pro-life intentions found here.
