James T. “J.T.” Hannan has been named Director of Advancement for the Archdiocese of New Orleans Office of Catholic Schools. This is a new position within the Office of Catholic Schools in partnership with the Catholic Community Foundation to continue the commitment of the local Catholic Church to make Catholic schools accessible to families wanting a Catholic education for their child(ren).
In this new position, Hannan will work to enhance and assist of fundraising/development platforms for Catholic Schools and work to increase funding for the Champions of Catholic Education Fund and the State of Louisiana Tax Credit Program for tuition assistance. Other responsibilities include working with the Superintendent of Catholic Schools on addressing the particular challenges faced by the archdiocese’s urban schools and acting as both liaison and lead point of contact between the Catholic Community Foundation, Office of Catholic Schools, partners and consultants on school reform and innovation efforts within the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
Superintendent of Catholic Schools Dr. RaeNell Houston said, “The Office of Catholic Schools has been seeking to expand its ability to create partnerships and address needs in advancement for the past several years. I believe J.T.’s experience will help us implement these goals and by extension, educate more children in the image of God.”

Hannan most recently served as Senior Planned Gift Officer for the Catholic Community Foundation. He has a 20-year career in education, development, policy and nonprofit work. He has worked for Loyola University New Orleans Office of Admissions, the Taylor Foundation/TOPS program and University Medical Center. Prior to joining the Catholic Foundation in January 2018, Hannan worked for the Bayou District Foundation and helped implement a ‘cradle to college’ education pipeline with a specific emphasis on early childhood education at the nationally recognized Educare-New Orleans. Hannan has also served on multiple civic boards including Catholic Charities, the New Orleans Police Community Advisory Board and was chairman of the 2012 Archbishop Hannan Community Appeal which raised a then record $1.9M.
Hannan is a 1999 graduate of Loyola University-New Orleans and is currently pursuing a Masters in Nonprofit Administration at LSU-Shreveport. A Lakeview resident, he is married with three children, all of whom are being educated at Catholic Schools.
