That is the theme of the first ever Neauxla Catholic Schools King Cake Love Challenge. The inaugural "challenge" is aimed at fostering unity amongst the area Catholic schools and it all started at
St. Rita Catholic School in New Orleans.
"The idea came to me on Saturday morning," said assistant principal Miesha Juluke. "I checked with my principal who said, 'go for it' and by Tuesday we were spreading the love by delivering the first King Cake to
Resurrection of Our Lord in New Orleans East."
Juluke decorated a mason jar with Mardi Gras decorations and put the name of each Catholic school in the Archdiocese of New Orleans inside. A student picked Resurrection, so Juluke bought the king cake and headed out to the East where she delivered the King Cake, the Mason Jar, and an envelope with flyers and instructions about what each school should do once they are the recipient of the "Love Challenge King Cake".
School leaders at Resurrection picked
Visitation of Our Lady in Marrero to be the second recipient, and Juluke says everyone she tells about it is looking forward to following the Neauxla Catholic Schools King Cake Love Challenge" on social media.
"We wanted to spread the love and who doesn't love a good King Cake?" said Juluke. "We wanted to promote that Catholic schools are all about loving one another despite differences as we rally around a King Cake."
