Dumb Ox Ministries has announced the limited engagement of
Gardenthe Musical, a modern-day, beautiful retelling of the oldest story in the book: Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, at Ursuline Academy from Jan. 17 to 20, 2019.
Tickets are available now and can be purchased online
here.
Currently in its second-year run, “Garden” is an original, full-stage musical play written by Joey Martineck and features the music of Greg&Lizzy, along with dialogue that balances humor and drama and
a plot that’s surprising yet familiar. The play spotlights the themes of
authentic love, relationships and struggles that inform and inspire the
audience with a hope-filled vision of what it means to be human.
“Garden invites us to renew our sense of wonder in the deepest places of
our humanity,” says Martineck.
“The way [Martineck] pulled off a fresh take on the simple story everyone
already knows-without making it outlandish-is truly stunning,” says Brian Butler, executive producer of “Garden.” “In fact, Garden is a grassroots success story featuring the talent of many locally based artists, including Denny Charbonnet, a director with 30-plus years of experience, at the helm. Ursuline Academy has also been absolutely wonderful to work with.”
Greg&Lizzy, local singers and songwriters, began with songs from a pair of their solo albums, then wrote new songs to shape the musical landscape of the play.
“We’ve been wanting to share our music in a new medium, and this project has certainly provided it,” says composer and lyricist, Greg Boudreaux.
With a cast and crew of talented Louisiana natives and show production
under the experienced direction of Dumb Ox Ministries, “Garden” is poised to be an inspiring local event that garners national attention in its second year.
With only one weekend of scheduled performances, seating capacity is
limited. Dumb Ox has partnered with the Archdiocese of New Orleans to
offer two special showings of the play – “Catholic Schools Day,” and “Date
Night” – that will feature a tailored experience for these particular groups.
