The Archdiocese of New Orleans continues to believe a global settlement benefits all survivors with financial recovery for all through the Chapter 11 and assures the continuation of parish ministries throughout the archdiocese. A dismissal of the case may only serve to benefit a select few individuals represented by the lawyers seeking dismissal of this case, with any potential recovery for those individuals years away. Today's motion raises no new issue not previously before the Court or published in the media and seeks to undermine the Court's fair and orderly adjudication of whether there is progress toward a global resolution in the near future. We were surprised by this inflammatory pleading in light of the courts action to address this issue earlier this week.
