The Slidell Substance Addiction Ministry (SAM) would like to announce the return of the upcoming “Community Forum and Resource Fair on Addiction” on Wednesday, January 22nd 2025 at 6 pm at St. Margaret Mary Church Evangelization Bldg, 1050 Robert Blvd. in Slidell. Our guest speaker for this year’s community event will be Dr. Dan Lynch, DO who will offer his presentation “UNDERSTANDING ADDICTION TREATMENT” to the public. Dr. Lynch practices addiction medicine at Ochsner Health and specializes in outpatient addiction services, providing medication-based treatments to adults (18+ years old), addressing a variety of substance use disorders, including opioid use disorder, alcohol use disorder, and physical dependency due to long term opioid therapy. Following Dr. Lynch’s presentation, will be a Q&A forum to offer answers related to addiction as a disease, its treatment, and family involvement in recovery. Immediately after the Q&A with Dr. Lynch, those attending will have the pleasure of enjoying food and light refreshments provided by NOLA Detox and Recovery. In addition to the presentation, the Substance Addiction Ministry (SAM) has also invited 16 local addiction resource representatives who will be present and available at the resource fair offering individual conversation along with brochures and business cards representing 12 step groups, treatment facilities, sober living houses, and harm reduction information. It is our goal to inform the public that if they are experiencing addiction problems in their family, “YOU ARE NOT ALONE” and that there is help, hope, and resources available to assist them on their journey of recovery. Mark your calendar for Wednesday, January 22nd at 6pm at St. Margaret Mary Church Evangelization Bldg. for this annual community informational and educational event. It is open to the public and to people of all faiths. Any questions concerning this annual event may be directed to Deacon Louie Bauer at [email protected] or by calling him at 985-640-4804.
