The Knights of Columbus Council 9623 at
Ascension of Our Lord in LaPlace will cook for and bring various relief supplies to families in Lake Charles that were devastated by Hurricane Laura. (The date is to be determined.) Donations most needed include mops, brooms, shovels, rakes, large garbage bags, plastic garbage cans; baby food, diapers, bottles, infant formula; cases of drinking water; non-perishable food items; feminine products and adult diapers. Items can be dropped off at 917 Carrollwood Ave. in LaPlace, across from Children’s World Shopping Center. Cash donations are greatly needed; checks should be made out to: Knights of Columbus, Council 9623 Disaster Relief Fund, and mailed to 2004 East Frisco Drive, LaPlace, Louisiana 70068.
Divine Mercy in Kenner is holding a supply drive to assist Catholic Charities in Lake Charles. Please find the complete listing of requested supplies
here. Those wanting to donate can drop-off supplies at the parish on Thursday, September 3 and Friday, September 4 from 9 am to non or 4 pm to 7 pm. The parish will also host a second collection with all funds going towards relief and rebuilding efforts this weekend, September 5 and 6 at all Masses.
Mary, Queen of Peace in Mandeville will be collecting the

The Men's Club of
St. Ann Church and Shrine in Metairie collect non-perishable goods from 6:30 – 8:30 on September 8-10. They will set up on Loveland St. on the driveway between the Parish Center and the school parking lot. On Friday, Sept. 11 (6PM – till) the Men’s Club will serve a drive-through dinner on Meadowdale St with all proceeds going to hurricane recovery. They will set up in the gravel lot behind the school and have the U-Haul there to accept additional non-perishable donations. The meal will consist of jambalaya, green beans, and bread for $10/plate. These projects are coordinated through the efforts of St. Ann Men’s Club, St. Ann Home & School Club, Knights of Columbus Council #3465, and St. Ann Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
St. Anselm in Madisonville is collecting the following items for those impacted by Hurricane Laura. Please put items in the bins at the back of the St. Anselm Church gathering area by 11am on Sunday, September 6th. Items to be collected include water, nonperishable food items (pull tops and ready to eat options preferred), peanut butter, toiletries, baby supplies, paper products, and cleaning supplies. No clothing or toys accepted at this time.
Knowing well the emotional and physical toll of rebuilding after a storm, St. Benilde Catholic Church in Metairie has partnered with St. Henry Catholic Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana. A small parish of 600-900 families, St. Henry is the most culturally diverse Catholic parish in the Diocese of Lake Charles with the only Spanish Mass. Their community is in desperate need and they are deeply appreciative of any assistance St. Benilde can give to help them in the difficult months ahead. Thanks to the StBenilde MensClub the parish is hosting a supply drive on Thursday, Sept 10 and Friday, Sept 11. Drop off times are from 7-8:00 AM and 2-5:00 PM. PLEASE NOTE: the parish currently DOES NOT NEED food or water. They are requesting cleaning supplies, toiletries, and baby items. St. Joan of Arc in LaPlace is partnering with St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church and school in Lake Charles, LA. There church received considerable damage and most parishioners are in need of help. Find more information or make a donation to the relief efforts online by clicking

St. Peter Claver Parish will hold a Hurricane Laura Disaster Relief Drive Up & Drop Up event this Sunday, September 13 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Items being collected are non-perishable foods and cleaning supplies (see list). If anyone would like to volunteer, please telephone the parish office at (504) 822-8059.
Several local parishes have teamed together to help St. Pius X in Ragley, Louisiana. Laura heavily damaged the parish property but also caused severe damage to the homes and businesses of parishioners. To make a financial contribution to help them help their parishioners and their parish rebuild you can give online using the “Hurricane Laura Relief” fund at https://olr-nola.org/online-giving.

On Friday, August 28,
St Maria Goretti cohosted a supply drive with New Orleans Council woman Cyndi Nguyen.
The supplies from the drive filled a ballroom at the Marriott.
The disaster relief team from St. Margaret Mary in Slidell left Saturday morning to help people in West Louisiana. The Saint Margaret Mary men’s club, the our Lady of Lourdes men’s club, and Pope John Paul high school’s men club are all working together to help others in need. Thank you so much to all the generous parishioners at Our Lady of the Rosary,New Orleans, St. Pius X in New Orleans, St. Luke in Slidell, Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Chalmette, Our Lady of Lourdes in Violet, and Visitation of Our Lady in Marrero who filled two moving trucks full of supplies over the weekend. Those trucks are already on their way to the Lake Charles area.
St. Francis Xavier in Metairie brought 33 volunteers to Lake Charles Monday, September 7 (Labor Day) to assist with hurricane clean-up. Beyond the volunteer efforts around Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish the parish and school together have reasied $35,000 for the Diocese of Lake Charles.
These funds include those from a student-run lemonade stand where proceeds went to Hurricane Laura relief.
