A new temporary exhibit on display now at the Old Ursuline Convent Museum, highlights St. John Paul II's 1987 visit to New Orleans. The room is dedicated to sharing the story of the Holy Father's historic visit through photos and objects including the chair commissioned for the altar at the outdoor Mass celebrated on the grounds of the University of New Orleans.
As visitors browse the exhibit, it will be as if they are following His Holiness from his arrival at the airport, down Canal St. to St. Louis Cathedral, and then on to the Superdome, Xavier University of New Orleans, and the University of New Orleans where torrential rains broke just in time for a beautiful Mass.
