Catholic Community Foundation Announces Annual Dinner and St. John Paul II Honoree Peter R. Quirk

by Catholic Community Foundation
The Catholic Community Foundation’s Annual Dinner is Thursday, October 10, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel. Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m., with dinner following at 7 p.m. During the dinner program, Archbishop Gregory Aymond and the foundation will present the 2019
Saint John Paul II Award to Peter R. “Pete” Quirk.
The Catholic Community Foundation hosts its annual dinner to celebrate Catholic generosity in our community. The event brings the Catholic community together for an evening of fellowship and allows the foundation to publicly thank those who have contributed to the success of our mission. The St. John Paul II Award recognizes the stewardship exhibited by a Catholic layperson(s) of high moral character and exemplary values, who has rendered unselfish volunteer service to the institutions and programs of the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
A native New Orleanian, Pete Quirk attended Jesuit High School and later studied electrical engineering at LSU. Pete was CEO of Walk, Haydel & Associates before heading up the then-named Catholic Foundation and Office of Stewardship and Development. He has served on
countless boards throughout the archdiocese and has been a driving force behind the Office of Catholic Schools’ Champions of Catholic Education Fund and the Louisiana tax credit scholarship program.
Though retired from an official archdiocesan post, winning the St. John Paul II Award brings Pete’s work full circle. He was on the foundation’s board when the award was established and named for his (now) favorite saint. He also finds himself among good company—his wife of 61 years, Marilyn, was the 2016 honoree.
Annual dinner reservations are required.
